NCC Bans New MTN Call Tariff Plan – Trutalk+

Few days ago, we talked on the new tariff plan from MTN which is the TruTalk+. We also made mention of the fact that the plan is exactly a replica of a new plan introduced by etisalat called Easylife 4.0 limited edition.

Reports reaching me as it that NCC which is the Nigerian Communications Commission, over the weekend, ordered MTN Nigeria to stop implementing its new tariff plan which is the MTN TruTalk+ or face serious sanctions.

NCC bans MTN TruTalk+ call tariff plan

NCC according to ThisDay, said…. “it did not grant approval for the promo which is already running. The commission also barred MTN from further advertisement of such service in the print, electronic media or its website.

Just a quick recap, the MTN trutalk+ plan offers a call rate of 11kobo per seconds to all networks in Nigeria plus a service charge of N5 daily. This would have benefited a-lot of people who are not really benefiting from the MTN Zone plan and NCC decides to ban the plan.

Over the years and currently, we are been charged hugely on data plans compared to most african countries and so far, not much has been done in that area. Oh well, i hope NCC starts doing the right things and not just things that may interest them and them alone.
