Angry Birds as a mobile game needs no introduction as the game has been in existence for quite a number of years now. On 30th of July, Angry Birds 2 was released and when people thought the new series won’t do as much as the original, Rovio has reported that the game has been downloaded over 20 million times across all platforms in just one week of it’s release.
According to Rovio, Angry birds 2 is the number one iPhone or iPad download in more than 100 countries and the most downloaded game on both iOS and Android platforms virtually worldwide. In a statement, Creative Director, Patrick Liu says:
When we were developing and testing Angry Birds 2, we had good reason to believe we were on to a good thing, but the enormous groundswell of enthusiasm for the game from loyal fans and casual newcomers alike has been humbling. It took the first Angry Birds game more than 9 months to reach this many players, and we thank all our fans for growing the flock so quickly!
Other Worthy Achievements So Far Includes:
Players have raised their slingshots more than 1.4 billion times.
Angry Birds 2 levels have been played 300 million times.
The Destruct-O-Meter has been maxed more than 350 million times over.
The game aims to gain massive success in China as the Chief Commercial Officer, Alex Lambeek states that:
A new generation of Chinese gamers are getting to know the angry feathered flock, and we see a bright future together with Kunlun, one of the Chinese game industry’s largest and most important players.
