These Sony Xperia Android Phones will be getting 6.0 marshmallow update skipping 5.1 lollipop

Off late, we have constantly been receiving reports in regards android devices getting 6.0 Marshmallow. The most recent is the LG G4 which should be getting the new update hopefully this week.

Sony devices getting the 6.0 marshmallow update
The LG G4 is going to be the first smartphone to get the new upgrade outside the nexus family. The infinix hot 2 is also said to be receiving the update before the end of the year and we are really looking forward to that.

Sony before now, had initially made lists of devices getting the android 6.0 marshmallow update and these includes:

  • Sony Xperia Z5
  • Sony Xperia Z5 Compact
  • Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
  • Sony Xperia Z3+ (And Xperia Z4, we assume)
  • Sony Xperia Z3
  • Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
  • Sony Xperia Z2
  • Sony Xperia M5
  • Sony Xperia C5 Ultra
  • Sony Xperia M4 Aqua
  • Sony Xperia C4

Not only Sony phones will be getting the update, some Sony tablets will be getting the update too and these includes the:

  • Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact
  • Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet
  • Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

Sony recently released a list of devices skipping the android 5.1 lollipop update to Marshmallow and this was announced via their official support page. These devices are:

  • Xperia M4 Aqua
  • Xperia C4
  • Xperia C5 Ultra
  • Xperia M5
  • Xperia Z3+
  • Xperia Z4 tablet

Hence, if you own any of the devices above still running android 5.0 lollipop, don’t expect an update to android 5.1. Instead, you should be expecting an update to 6.0 marshmallow.

Sony didn’t state when the update will be rolled over or when the update will likely be available for it’s devices. However, we are guessing the update should be available starting from the next few months. We will update you as soon as we get more reports in regards this.
