Gionee, over the years has been known for one basic thing, and that is producing smartphones with bigger battery capacities. That is basically what the brand is known for in Nigeria.
The Gionee Marathon M5 which was launched last month in India didn’t fall short in expectation. The device packs a whooping 6020mAh battery accompanied with a 5.5 inch display with screen resolution pixels of 720 × 1280 and powered by a MediaTek 6735 processor with 3GB RAM.
Before the year 2015 finally comes to a close, the company is launching a senior brother to the earlier M5 and is being called the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus.
While the M5 plus based on the leaked specs sheet (the ‘PLUS’ tag inclusive), seemed as an advanced version of the M5, there is a reduction in battery capacity. The Gionee Marathon M5 packs a 5020mAh battery which isn’t really bad and sports a 6-inch Amoled display with resolution of 1080 × 1920.
The M5 plus will be sporting a RAM size of 3GB with no concrete information on which chip it will be powered by although speculation has it that it could likely be MediaTek Helio P10 or Helio X10. Hence, you should be expecting a bigger screen, better performance, better screen resolution amongst others.
In terms of camera, the M5 plus will likely sport a 13 megapixels back camera with a 5 megapixels front facing camera. The device will be launched in China on the 21st of December, 2015 with no price range stated yet.
No word yet on whether or not the Gionee Marathon M5 plus will be available in other markets. However, you can always have it ordered online and wait weeks for it to arrive in your specific country.
