During the course of the Mobile World Congress, we saw the release of quite a number of flagship devices from different brands. During the course of same event, Telegram announced a new milestone has been set.
The company announced that its mobile messaging app has passed the 100 million monthly active users.
Sometime in march 2014, Telegram announced that it’s app had reached over 35 million active users and apparently, slow and steady seems to have won the company another huge milestone.
While the 100 million active monthly users record could be such a huge deal, it isn’t close to the growth of it’s major rival, WhatsApp. Some couple of weeks back, Facebook-owned messaging service, WhatsApp, announced that it had reached over 1 billion monthly users milestone. Same day with GMail.
Telegram CEO, Pavel Durov, also disclosed that users across over 200 countries use telegram in sending over 15 billion messages everyday. He also added that over 350,000 new users join the train daily.
While Telegram could be the next big thing? Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram is packed with a while lot of privacy features. Users can set self destruct timers on secret chats, communications are encrypted end-to-end amongst others. So, if you are so much concerned about privacy, Telegram is actually the way to go.
Few weeks back, a new update was launched which brought about some new features on the telegram app. From more enhanced privacy controls to a new photo editor embedded in it. Other features were also brought in place thereby making the app more conducive.
