Android M Is Officially Called 6.0 Marshmallow – Some Improvements To Note

Google giving their android OS some names that has to do with snacks isn’t new. We are currently been given Froyo, Gingerbread, Ice Cream, sandwich,jellybean, KitKat, lollipop and now, Marshmallow.

The android M was first unveiled during Google’s annual I/O conference in May and since then, people have been allowed to guess with the M stands for. Apparently, most people tend not to have gotten it as Google has officially announced that the android 6.0 M is called Marshmallow and its expected to be launched before the year end.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Improvements To Note

The Android 6.0 is aimed at optimizing performance on android devices by lowering the RAM usage, improving standby and overall battery life span.

The OS is also expected to bring alive, a native support for fingerprint sensors and security authentications. It is also said that the official app permission manager will be introduced as well as support for USB type-C connectors which would make it possible for an android device to charge other devices.

As at when publishing this, the developers preview is currently available on Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and the nexus player. The RTM version will be available after the preview version.

Although the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to debug on Nexus devices this year, it might take much longer to be available on other devices considering the fact that just about 18.1 android devices are currently running the 5.0 lollipop OS.
