Since the release of the android 5.0 lollipop update, we expected that by now, most android devices will be running on the lollipop OS. Apparently, that doesn’t seem to be the case as Google statistics has reported that only 18.1 percent of active android devices are currently running the Android lollipop update.
In a recent post where we talked on the HTC One M9 android device getting the 5.1 lollipop update, we made mention of the fact that Google hasn’t updated the distribution numbers for each version of android operating system.
This August, Google is back with an update after sliding the month of July report and according to the statistics, android lollipop is on 18.1 percent of active android devices.
As expected, the android 4.4 KitKat is currently said to be running on 39.3 percent making a slight increase from what it was in June when it was reported to be 39.2 percent. The android Jellybean apparently went down from what it was in June. It is currently running on 33.6 percent after been said to be running on 37.4 percent in June.
Ice Cream Sandwich currently runs on 4.1 percent of android devices while Gingerbread currently runs on 4.6 percent moving down from what it was in June when it was reported running on 5.6 percent devices.
It would interest you to know that some android devices running Froyo OS are still in existence and still in usage as 0.3 percent of android devices are currently running the OS. Please note that the figures above are for active android phones and bare in mind that July report was skipped by Google. The time difference sure made good difference.
