Google is working towards redefining the launcher experience on it’s upcoming Nexus smartphones and as such, a new nexus launcher is on it’s way.

Thankfully, rather than having to wait till the smartphone becomes readily available, you can download and test-run the launcher on your current smartphone.

The APK version of the launcher has been leaked out and if you ain’t scared of trying new things, this is something you should give a shot.

Based on my quick experience with the launcher, installing on an Android phone running Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS doesn’t seem to work. It kept returning parsing error.

I currently have it running on an Android phone running Marshmallow OS and here’s what the launcher looks like.

Based on my quick experience, that’s pretty much everything you can get at the moment from the APK version of the launcher.

As illustrated by the GIF below, the app drawer has been discontinued. Hence, you need to swipe the screen from the bottom upwards to bring forth your installed apps.

Switching wallpapers seem much fun as there’s a daily wallpaper feature. Although there are a handful of beautiful wallpapers which comes as default on the launcher, the daily wallpaper feature aims to give you more.
