Instagram Now Allows You Save Posts To A Private Collection Or Category

Being able to ‘sorta’ save posts on instagram isn’t entirely new. The feature on instagram which allows users bookmark posts for viewing later has been in existence for quite a while now. It’s somewhat similar to Facebook’s save feature.

However, what’s new is the ability to not only save those photos or posts you love, but also categorize or save them into a collection thus making things more organized.

Instagram Latest Feature Allows You Keep Things More Organized

The new feature was released today. Although it may not seem like a big deal, it’s actually worth talking about.

Instagram, via a blog post, stated thus:

Starting this week, you can save posts into private collections. Tap and hold the bookmark icon underneath any post to save it directly to a collection. You can create and name a new collection when you save a post, or you can add it to one you’ve already created. You can also create a collection out of your existing saved posts. Tap the plus icon in the top right corner, give your collection a name and select the saved posts you’d like to add.

You can find your collections on the saved posts tab on your profile. Just like all saved posts, your collections are private — only you can see them.

How to use the new feature is quite explanatory. However, if you are the type who likes to keep things organized, you’d agree that the new feature sure comes in handy. If you are a fan of food and you’d love to search for food related posts on Instagram, you can simply create a new collection called ‘Food’. Thereafter, if you’d find any post on food that’s handy, you can simply bookmark them to the food collection.

Same applies for ideas. If you enjoy inspirational or motivation quotes, you can create a collection called ideas, motivation or quote. If you come across a post(s) inline with that category, you can always save it under the right collection. Handy huh?

You can do same for other stuffs that interest you. The essence is being able to categorize them and easily go back to them when the need arises.

Related to same Instagram, the photo / video sharing social media service recently announced that one of its recently rolled over feature, Instagram stories, is being used by over 200 million daily active users. That’s a huge feet. Sorta proves that copying snapchat is working, apparently.
