Latest WhatsApp Update For Android and iOS Brings Back Old Text Status Feature

WhatsApp recently introduced a snap-chat like feature on it’s platform known as Status. WhatsApp status isn’t new. Yes! However, the new status feature introduced on the platform was different from what we were accustomed to. Let’s say it was a bit more advanced.

The new status feature basically allows you share pictures or videos to your contacts. Validity period is set at maximum of 24 hours which afterwards, users are required to update status again or it vanishes.

The major downside with the new status feature in my opinion, would be the expiration period and inability to use just text.

While text can be applied to pictures and GIFs, text alone could not be used with the new WhatsApp status feature.

Interestingly, same feature was incorporated on Facebook messenger app. Except for this time, it’s being termed as ‘Stories‘.

A couple of weeks back, i shared with you report on the fact that WhatsApp is looking at bringing back the old status feature which allows text only input.

The latest version of the app currently present on Android and iOS, has brought back the old WhatsApp status feature.

Users can now go back and enjoy the old status style while still having the new status style as an addition.

Access Old Status Update Feature On iOS

  1. Launch WhatsApp
  2. Tap on settings
  3. Tap on your profile name
  4. Under About, you’d find your text status update. Feel free to change if you so please.

Other than the old status update feature being restored on iOS, iOS gets the ability to stream videos while it’s still downloading. This feature isn’t new to Android users.

This simply means that, iOS users can now watch videos right away without waiting for them to download First.

Additionally, improvement have been made to the camera option. iOS users can now capture better pictures and videos even when it’s dark by simply tapping the moon icon.

If you haven’t updated your WhatsApp application to the latest version, do rush to the App Store on iOS or Google Play Store on Android and hit the update button.
